Jose David Luna Jiménez
I studied at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) achieving a degree in Architecture and, later, a Masters degree in Civil Engineering attained by the specialized study of Construction and Structural Engineering.
I continued my studies at the University Polytechnic of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona under the direction of Helio Pinon. I focused on studies of the Modern form and was awarded a Diploma of Advanced Studies upon submission of my Doctoral Thesis entitled “Ideals of Modernity: American Consulates by SOM.” My interest in the works of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) increased my awareness of the works of Gordon Bunsahft in New York and Germany. In particular how they were created from universal principles, their constructive sense and how the structures achieved their own identity in relation to their specific location. I participated in conferences at the Institute Catalan of International Cooperation In Barcelona to promote awareness of Gordon Bunsahft.
I have benefited from the opportunity to conduct an in depth analysis of an important structure designed by Eduardo Torroja. This project required me to evaluate and prove the structural stability of the Market Hall in Algeciras which was completed 1933. By use of modern techniques to test his original plans and calculations I was able to prove his work conforms to the very latest requirements of structural engineering and, also complies with the principles of efficiency and economy, thus creating a structure of truly timeless elegance.
My early experiences in architecture and engineering were developed in the design of large scale projects for office developments and auditoria. This work gave me a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of construction and design details. Through time I have developed these and many other skills which have enabled me, in my designs, to achieve functionality with beauty together with technical solutions which acknowledge economic realities.
I believe Architecture and Engineering require a solid scientific base, but also have an important part to play in the wider creative landscape. I believe my work combines science and artistry in the most favorable proportions to produce beautiful structures.

I am an architect and an interior designer who provide a refined approach to designing beautiful spaces for living or working, etc. I believe that, as Mies Van Der Rohe said, the important question to ask in every project is not “what” but “how”.
Therefore my projects receive an individually tailored approach about how it must be developed.
Confident use of materials, a refined sense of colour and a cost consciousness are my trademarks. In fulfilling a clients’ brief I conscientiously address business parameters and aim to exceed expectations. I work closely with clients to create solutions that are innovative, appropriate and meticulously executed. To achieve those goals I developed strong management skills and an excellent hand drawing skills and I am also versed in computer programs.
My commitment is in delivering the best possible work, whatever the circumstances.
